Define the housing arrangement first
A room rental can involve an owner, master tenant, property manager or another authorized arrangement. Ask who controls the home, who will sign the agreement and whether the proposed occupancy is permitted.
Confirm whether the offer is for a private room, shared room, sublease or roommate replacement. Clarify which spaces are exclusive, shared or unavailable and whether the stated rent covers utilities, parking, storage or furnishings.
Discuss practical compatibility respectfully
Shared housing works better when expectations are discussed before move-in. Focus on neutral household operations such as quiet hours, guests, cleaning, shared supplies, parking, pets, smoking rules, remote work and use of common areas.
